PAX 2007

Well, it's come and gone again for another year. I made the journey to Seattle again for the Penny Arcade Expo again this year and once again had a blast.
The venue had changed this year from Bellevue to downtown Seattle, which was both a blessing and a bit of a let down.

The new center is, well, WAY bigger than the old one. Last year it was 20,000 people crammed into a space for about 10,000 and it really showed. This year there was more than enough space for the ~40,000 that showed up which was great. They really spread things out though as a result, and it certainly took a bit away from the social aspect of the event. I talked to far less people I didn't know this year than last, mostly because we didn't spend hours in lines and crammed in like sardines.
The expo hall was a huge improvement this year as well. Not only was it larger, but there were a lot more displays from the larger vendors. The swag was flying as well (I think Joe ended up with half a dozen free shirts etc, geek paradise).
I got a chance to try out rock band (though not on the stage with the other instruments). I have to say that the new guitar is a huge improvement over the old one. It feels a bit odd at first, but once you get used to the new button and strum bar feel, it's way better. The best display in the center was the stage setup they had though where you could really play like a band with a light show etc.
Can't wait for next year. Check out the photos if you are interested..
